HOUSTON – This Saturday marks the regular season finale and Senior Night for HBU men's basketball with the Huskies in a battle of four programs vying for three open spots in the 2021 Southland Conference men's basketball tournament with the Huskies hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Sharp Gym at 5:00 p.m. Husky fans can catch all the action on the Husky Sports Network broadcast with Lonnie King providing play-by-play available at HBUHuskies.com.

HBU (5-17, 4-10 SLC) stands at 13 points in the SLC standings, one point ahead of Central Arkansas, while McNeese is at 14 points and Lamar has 15 points. Lamar and McNeese face each other on Saturday with the winner securing one of the three available spots in the tournament. A win by HBU on Saturday would guarantee the Huskies a slot, as would a loss by Central Arkansas in the Bears' game at Northwestern State at 1:00 p.m.

This past Wednesday, the Huskies earned the season sweep of UIW, downing the Cardinals 72-67. HBU utilized its best rebounding performance of the season to hold off UIW, holding a 44-29 advantage on the boards. Additionally, the Huskies had a season-low 10 turnovers in the win.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4-19, 1-13 SLC) has lost its last four games, most recently losing at Sam Houston on Wednesday, 84-61. Sophomore guard Jalen White led the Islanders with 16 points in that loss. White has been the team's top scorer this season, averaging 11.5 points per game and is second on the boards, averaging 5.2 rebounds per game. Junior forward De'Lazarus Keys leads the team in rebounding at 6.7 rpg and is second in scoring with nine ppg.

The Huskies and Islanders have split their last four meetings over the last two seasons with the home team winning each contest.

If the Huskies qualify for the SLC Tournament, they will play their first game on Tuesday, Mar. 9, at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas at either 5:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m. HBU can still end up anywhere from the No. 8 through No. 10 seed.
