THIBODAUX, La. – The HBU men's basketball team continues a frantic final stretch of games on Wednesday evening when the Huskies face Nicholls at 7:00 p.m. in the second game of a doubleheader following a women's game between the two schools in Stopher Gymnasium. The Huskies (4-14, 3-7 SLC) and Colonels (13-6, 10-2 SLC) met in Sharp Gym on Jan. 20 with Nicholls earning a 92-83 win over the hosts. Pedro Castro and Brycen Long led HBU with 17 and 15 points while Za-Ontay Boothman and Myles Pierre added 11 and 10, respectively, off the bench. Nicholls was led by a season-high 27 points from senior Ty Gordon.
 
HBU lost on Monday evening after an eight-day layoff between games, falling to Northwestern State 86-80 on the road. The Huskies missed their first 10 field goal attempts and failed to make a three in the first half but came alive offensively in the second half, shooting 56.3 percent from the floor and 46.7 percent from three. Long and fellow freshman Jade Tse led the Huskies with 14 points, marking a new career-high for Tse.
 
Nicholls has won its last three games, clinching a spot in the Southland Conference tournament in a 79-68 win over Central Arkansas this past Saturday. Gordon leads the Colonels at 14.8 points per game while senior Kevin Johnson is among the nation's best when it comes to steals, averaging 2.32 spg to rank 17th among all Division I players.
 
The Huskies will play their third-straight game in the Pelican State on Saturday, Feb. 27, in Lake Charles, La. at 7:30 p.m.
