HOUSTON – HBU hosts one-time conference foe Oral Roberts inside Sharp Gym for a non-conference men's basketball matchup on Saturday evening inside Sharp Gym at 7:00 p.m. Husky fans can catch all the action on the Husky Sports Network broadcast with Garrett Jones on play-by-play, available at HBUHuskies.com.
 
The Huskies (2-4) picked up a 100-62 win their last time on the floor, dispatching Southwestern Adventist and giving James Sears Bryant Head Men's Basketball Coach Ron Cottrell his 499th career victory. Five different HBU players scored at least 11 points in the win with Darius Lee posting a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 8-of-9 from the floor while freshman Deshon Proctor set new career-highs in points (16), rebounds (11) and assists (3).
 
HBU is averaging four blocked shots per game so far this season, tied for second-most in the Southland Conference. 12 different players have at least one blocked shot while Proctor leads the team with five and Lee has four. Brycen Long has been the team's top long-distance threat, shooting 42.9 percent (12-of-28) from three after shooting 36.8 percent (28-of-76) last year as a freshman.
 
Oral Roberts (4-4) comes to Sharp Gym as one of the most prolific three-point shooting teams in the country, ranking first among all Division I teams in three-pointers made and third in three-point attempts. The Golden Eagles are led by junior guard Max Abmas, the nation's eighth-leading scorer averaging 22 points per game. Abmas is leading the country with 4.43 made threes per game.
 
ORU is 0-3 on the road so far this season and Saturday's game will be the Golden Eagles' fourth game in a nine day stretch. On Thursday, ORU dropped a road matchup in Fort Worth to TCU by a 71-63 score.
 
The Huskies and Golden Eagles last played during the 2019-20 season in Tulsa, Okla. with ORU earning a 95-81 win. Just one player, Zach Iyeyemi, played in that game with the then freshman playing four minutes and scoring two points. HBU is 0-3 all-time against Oral Roberts. ORU was a member of the Southland Conference for two years, from 2012-2014.
 
The current HBU homestand continues on Tuesday, Dec. 7, with a visit  from Champion Christian at 7:00 p.m.
