HOUSTON – The men's soccer team is finally returning home to Sorrels Field for some Western Athletic Conference action to host Cal Baptist Friday night and Utah Valley Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies (2-10-0, 0-6-0 WAC) are coming off of three straight WAC losses on the road to UNLV, Dixie State, and UTRGV. On the season HBU is 2-5 on their home turf and are currently ranked 12
th in the WAC. The Huskies are led by leading goal scorer and top points earner
CJ Smith with five goals and 10 points this far into the season.
Bryant Farkarlun is second on the team in both categories with five and seven respectively.
Luis Poblacion leads the Huskies with three assists.
Cal Baptist (8-2-3, 3-1-2 WAC) is currently ranked 5
th in the WAC and sports a 5-2-2 road record on the season. Their last three matches have seen them beat WAC foes Seattle U and Dixie State and tied with San Jose State, all on their home turf. Bryan Iliohan leads the WAC in goals with nine and is third in total points with 19. Goalkeeper Evan Ince is second in the conference with a .846 save percentage, third in goals against average with .82 goals per game and third in total goals against with six.
Utah Valley (6-3-2, 3-2-0 WAC) is coming off of a blowout win against UNLV and two narrow losses to San Jose State and Seattle U all on their home turf. For the season the Wolverines are 4-0-2 on the road. The Wolverines are led by goalkeeper Joseph Wheelwright who leads the conference in fewest goals against with five and goals against average with .80 goals per game. Diego Castillo and Jojea Kwizera lead the Wolverines in total points on the season with 11 and each have scored three times while also collecting five assists.
The Huskies are back on the road next weekend when they match up with WAC opponents Seattle U (10/29) and San Jose State (10/31).
