CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – HBU got off to a fast start, but had to rebound to force a fifth set, before falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3-2 (16-25, 25-21, 25-21, 18-25, 15-7) in Southland Conference volleyball Saturday afternoon in Dugan Wellness Center.

Ebonie Ballesteros led the Huskies (14-7, 5-2 SLC) with 16 kills and six blocks. Senior outside hitter
Mikayla Vivens record her first double-double of the season with 11 kills and 16 digs and junior right side
Anna Gadway posted her sixth with 11 kills and 14 digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Sara Arroyo added 12 kills and senior middle blocker
Jada Allen had six. Junior setter
Ellie Wipf dished out 46 assists to go along with 10 digs and three kills. Freshman libero
Tatiana Evans had 18 digs and freshman outside hitter
Alexia Jones had 10.
Montez Uigaese hit .404 and totaled 25 kills for the Islanders (11-7, 7-0). Kyndal Payne had 15 kills and 16 digs and setter Faith Panhans had 56 assists, 10 kills and nine digs. Carissa Barnes led TAMU-CC with 25 digs, Kayla White had 15 and Angel Felan had 10.
TAMU-CC hit .270 for the match, while HBU hit .265. The Islanders outdug the Huskies, 80-69, but HBU outblocked TAMU-CC, 10-5.
The Huskies return home for a four-match homestand, beginning with UIW Thursday and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday in Sharp Gym.
