On March 14, the Southland Conference announced all remaining competitions and championships for the 2020 season would be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Several HBU seniors in men's and women's golf, track and field, beach volleyball, softball and baseball had just begun their final seasons and did not have the opportunity to complete their athletic careers and compete for a conference championship.
HBU Athletics is honoring each of those seniors with their own Senior Day here on

Imani Jacquet – Track & Field

Imani Jacquet has been a member of the HBU track & field program since enrolling at HBU for the 2016-17 academic year with her freshman season competing in throws began during the 2017 indoor season.

Jacquet, from Baytown, Texas, threw the weight and shot put in indoor while throwing the hammer, discus and shot put during the outdoor seasons. She has earned both Dean's List and SLC Commissioner's Honor Roll honors during her career as a Husky.

"I feel as though coming to HBU has helped me to better understand who I am as a person," said Jacquet. "It was achieved through many hard and long hours of work both in the classroom and on the track"

In indoor competition, Jacquet posted a PR throw of 16.72m/54-10.25 in the weight throw at the 2019 SLC Indoor Championships to place eighth and pick up a point while her indoor shot put PR of 12.99m/42-7.50 came the year before at the 2018 SLC Indoor Championships. In 2019, Jacquet recorded her best-ever hammer throw at the Rice J. Fred Duckett Twilight, reaching a distance of 46.53m/152-8. Her top shot put came two years earlier at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight with a throw of 13.18m/43-3.0 to place fourth.

"I have a lot of favorite memories, but if I were to pick just one I would say the before and after meet dinners with my team," added Jacquet.
