YOUNGSVILLE, Louisiana – The HBU Huskies fell in both their matchups on Friday's double-header in the first day of the Mardi Gras Mambo Tournament.
 
Game 1: The HBU Huskies dropped game one of the day to the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks, 10-4. The Huskies got off to an early first inning lead after Avery Drake led off by reaching on base with a catcher's interference and then advanced to second base on a Shelby Echols groundout followed by a Jasie Roberts single and advanced to second on the throw home the scored Drake giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead. Caitlyn Brockway hits a two out single that scored Roberts from second.
 
In the top of the third inning the Warhawks scored three runs giving them a 3-2 on four hits. The Warhawks hit back to back singles with one out, followed by a two out hit by pitch on Watts who advanced everyone.  Hogan single up the middle scored two runs tying the game at 2-2.  Giddens walk loaded the bases giving Buck an opportunity to drive in one run that gave the Warhawks the lead.
 
The Warhawks added one run in the top of the fourth by an RBI double by Mount that scored Kreps after reaching by a throwing error.
 
In the top of the sixth inning the Warhawks took a commanding lead scoring five runs on four hits with one error. A two-out error by the left fielder led to a four unearned run streak that gave the Warhawks a 9-2 lead going to the bottom of the sixth.
 
HBU made some noise in the bottom of the sixth and answered back with two runs themselves on a Katy Schaefer two run homer that decreased the Warhawk lead to 9-4.
 
The Warhawks scored one more in the top of the seventh and went on to win the ball game 10-4 improving their record to 4-7 while the Huskies added one to the loss column making them 7-4.
 
Junior Jessica Patak earned her first loss of the season making her record 2-1 after 2.2 innings of work while giving up three runs, three earned, on five hits while walking and striking out two batters.
Freshman Lyndie Swanson threw three innings in relief giving up six runs only one earned on five hits while striking out two batters and walking one. Elliott Estes followed Swanson with 1.1 innings of work giving up one unearned run on one hit.

Game 2: The Huskies dropped game two of day one of the Mardi Gras Mambo 6-1 to their Southland Conference opponent the Northwestern State Lady Demons.
 
The Lady Demons started off the game scoring four runs in the top of the first on an RBI single by Delafield and a Marshall three RBI double to the right center gap giving the Lady Demons an early 4-0 lead.
 
The Lady Demons tacked on one more run in the top of the third by a walk that was later scored by a Marshall single giving her a fourth run batted in on the afternoon making the score 5-0.
 
The Huskies scored one run after Shelby Echols hit a double to lead off the bottom of the third who then later scored after a Katy Schaefer single narrowing the Lady Demon lead.
 
Northwestern State added one more run in the bottom of the fifth on three hits giving them a 6-1 lead and would later finish off the Huskies in order in the final innings of play.
 
Freshman Madison Cotton (2-1) earned her first loss on the season going one inning while giving up two hits on four runs, all four were earned and walking three while striking out one. Sophomore Sarah Venker closed out the last six innings for the Huskies giving up two runs, one earned, on five hits while walking three batters, and striking out six hitters.
