HOUSTON - HBU led by as many as six in the second set and as much as four in the third, but could not hold on as UT Rio Grande Valley claimed a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-23) victory to close out the 2019 Barcelona Sports Invitational Saturday at Sharp Gym.

Anna Gadway hit .458 with 12 kills and only one error on 24 attempts, while adding three blocks for the Huskies (2-1). Sophomore outside hitter

Mikayla Vivens hit .333 with seven kills and no errors on 33 swings. Junior setter
Morgan Dewyer recorded 28 assists and senior libero
Hannah Lewis came up with 23 digs, the third-most in a three-set match in the school's NCAA Division I era.
Sarah Cruz posted a double-double for UTRGV (2-1) with 17 kills and 10 digs and Barbara Silva added 10 kills. Debora Nazario had 33 assists, four kills and 17 digs, while Samaret Carbajal led UTRGV with 19 digs. Jackie Kingsbury chipped in with six kills and 11 digs.
UTRGV outhit HBU, .248-.186, and outdug them, 75-69. UTRGV held a slight advantage in blocks, 5.5-5.0. The Huskies did record more aces, with seven to UTRGV's five.
Vivens and Dewyer were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Huskies return to action when they play their first match away from home against Prairie View A&M Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Prairie View.
