SB: Huskies Host UNT Tuesday
HOUSTON- HBU Softball hosts the University of North Texas this Tuesday April 9th with first pitch slated at 3:00 P.M.The Huskies have lost both their previous matchups with the Mean Green, with both of those contests being on the road in Denton. HBU (14-17) is coming off a road series defeat at the hands of Sam Houston State this past weekend as they look to grab a win before traveling to Thibodaux, Louisiana for another road series this time against Nicholls. HBU is led by
Sierra Humphrey at the plate who leads the Huskies in hitting with a .322 average. Junior
Amber Lotz sits behind her with a .298 average and senior
Brooke Bushman follows her with a .294 average.
Elliot Estes (5-4) looks to get the start in the circle for the Huskies. Estes has a team low 2.64 ERA on the season in 53 innings pitched. This past weekend Estes threw a combined 7 innings only surrendering one run striking out four against the Bearkats of Sam Houston.
North Texas (25-12) are hitting .291 as a team including 34 homeruns on the season. The Mean Green are led by Katie Clark who comes into the game batting .419. Lacy Gregory follows her with a .368 average with a team high 36 RBI's and tied for second on the team with 5 homers.
The Mean Green pitching staff is anchored down by Hope Trautwein (15-4) who comes in with 135.1 innings pitched on the season with 111 strikeouts.
HBU will then hit the road to take on the Lady Colonels of Nicholls this weekend with a double header on Friday April 12th beginning at 5:00 P.M. and game three on Saturday at 1:00 P.M.
