SB: Huskies Set for SLC Series vs Incarnate Word
HOUSTON- HBU Softball is home this weekend for a series against the Cardinals of Incarnate Word. Series will begin Thursday with a double-header at 5:00 P.M.
HBU (16-20, 4-14) is coming off a extra innings win against Prairie View A&M that saw
Caitlyn Brockway and
Heidi Jaquez both leave the yard and outfielder
Riley Bullen leg out a triple and a double in the game.
The Huskies have leaned on the deep ball recently as HBU has a total of 19 this season led by freshman
Caitlyn Brockway who has 10.
Sierra Humphrey holds the highest batting average on the team at .301 followed by
Heidi Jaquez who is swinging .279.
Elliot Estes (5-6) and
Emma Guindon (7-6) are nearly identical in ERA with Estes coming in with a 2.97 on the year and Guindon with a 2.98. Guindon leads the team in innings pitched just crossing the 100 innings mark in her start against Prairie View A&M yesterday where she threw 8 innings.
Jessica Patak (4-8) rounds out the Husky pitching staff with a 4.00 ERA in 75.1 innings pitched including 44 strikeouts.
Incarnate Word (4-33. 2-16) are coming off a series loss to Stephen F. Austin last weekend. The Cardinals are led by Hope Sobolewski who has the highest batting average on the team at .275. Sobolewski also leads the team in HR's and RBI's with 5 and 20 respectfully. She is followed up by Shelby Neatherlin who sports a .239 average with 4 HR's and 13 RBI's.
Brett Coleman (3-14) leads the Incarnate Word pitching staff with a 5.84 ERA in 11 starts and 98.1 innings pitched. Renee Hoffman (1-14) follows her up with a 6.22 ERA in 10 starts and 90 innings pitched on the season.
Game two will start approxiamatly 30 minutes after game one is finished and game three will be Friday at Noon.
