SB: Huskies Set For Southland Conference Opener Against the Islanders
Corpus Christi- HBU Softball is set for their Southland Conference Opener Friday March 8th at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Huskies will start with a double-header Friday with first pitch slated for 1:00 P.M. and game two following immediately afterwards. Game three will be on Saturday March 9th at Noon to finish up the series.
HBU (9-6) comes in with a four game winning streak including wins over Samford and UTSA. HBU is swinging .305 as a team led by junior
Amber Lotz's .432 average.
Sierra Humphrey follows her up with a .410 average. Freshman
Caitlyn Brockway leads the team with a .600 slugging percentage and four homeruns.
The Huskies have used a trio of pitchers this season with sophomore
Jessica Patak (2-5, 5.31 ERA) getting most of the starts this season. Freshman
Emma Guindon (3-0, 4.17 ERA) has gotten a good start to her HBU career pitching two complete games and one shutout. Elliot Estes (3-1, 3.62 ERA) rounds out the trio with one complete game shutout of her own.
Texas A&M-CC (3-18) is coming into the game off a loss to Texas A&M this last weekend. The Islanders are batting .209 as a team led by Kennedy Johnson's .264 average. Sammi Thomas follows her up with a .250 average and a team high two homeruns.
After their series with the Islanders the Huskies will return to Husky field to take on Southeastern Louisiana in a three game series starting March 15th at 1:00 P.M. with game two following immediately afterwards.
