SB: Huskies Set For Midweek Matchup Against UTSA
HOUSTON, TX- HBU softball returns home for only the second time of the season thus far to take on UTSA this Wednesday March 6 at 3:00p.m. HBU is coming off a strong showing this past weekend in Birmingham Alabama going 3-0 taking down Jackson State, Samford, and Evansville.
HBU (8-6) is one win from matching their season total from last year. The Huskies have been swinging the bat well with a .302 team average compared to the .255 average the pitching staff is holding opponents to. HBU has four players hitting above .400 leading with
Sierra Humphrey's .429. Humphrey is sporting a .524 on base percentage on the season. She is followed up by senior
Brooke Bushman (.419), and juniors
Amber Lotz (.412) and
Heidi Jaquez (.400). Freshman
Caitlyn Brockway exploded at the plate last week hitting three homeruns on the week boosting her team high slugging percentage to .649. Brockway also took the team lead in homeruns with 4 on the season.
HBU has mixed it up in the circle throwing
Jessica Patak,
Emma Guindon, and Elliot Estes with Patak getting the majority of the starts. Patak comes in with a 5.31 ERA and 2-5 record in 39 innings pitched with 33 strikeouts. \
UTSA (9-10) have a team batting average of .231, but have hit 9 homeruns as a team one more than the Huskies. The Roadrunners are led by Celeste Loughman who is sporting a .381 average and a team high 10 RBI's. Riley Grunberg follows her up with a .298 average with two homeruns and nine RBI's.

HBU will then hit the road, traveling down to Corpus Christi to take on the Islanders in the Southland Conference opening series. That series will begin with a Friday March 8th double-header starting a 1:00p.m. and will finish up Saturday March 9 at noon.
