SB: HBU Softball Set for Midweek Matchup Against UTA
HOUSTON- HBU Softball is set for a Wednesday matchup against UTA on the road. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
HBU (12-9) is looking to bounce back after dropping two straight at home against Southeastern Louisiana. The Huskies come into the game with a .287 team batting average while holding opposing hitters to a .248 average. HBU has four batters hitting over .300 on the season led by sophomore outfielder
Sierra Humphrey with a .373 average. She is followed up by senior first baseman
Brooke Bushman who is currently hitting .357 with 5 doubles.
Autumn Sydlik and
Amber Lotz round out the .300 hitters with .345 and .333 averages respectfully.
HBU has leaned on its young pitching staff with the two sophomores
Jessica Patak (3-6) and Elliot Estes (4-1) and the freshman
Emma Guindon (5-2).
UTA (14-12) is also coming off of two straight losses against Georgia State. The Mavericks come in hitting .303 as a team lead by Whitney Walton who is currently hitting .500 on the season with eight doubles and two homeruns. She is followed up by Laura Curry and Krista Rude who have .388 and .366 averages respectively.
UTA has primarily used five pitchers in the circle lead by Randi Phillips (7-6) who has 14 starts on the season with 5 complete games.
HBU will then hit the road to take on Stephen F. Austin in a Southland Conference 3 game series.
