SB: Huskies prepped for Samford Tournament in Birminham, AL
BIRMINGHAM, AL- HBU Softball is set to take part in the Samford Tournament beginning this Friday in Birmingham, Alabama. HBU is on the road again with 9 of their first 11 games coming away from Husky Field.
HBU (5-6) is coming off a loss Wednesday in Austin to the Longhorns of Texas by a score of 8-0. The Huskies will look to get back to .500 with their first game Friday afternoon against Jackson State (2-16) at 12:30. This will be the teams second meeting with HBU winning the first matchup 4-0. Following that game the Huskies will take on host team Samford (5-12) at 3:00p.m. HBU will then return Saturday morning March 2 at 9:00a.m. against Evansville (6-6) and March 3 at 11:00a.m. against Western Kentucky (10-2) to close out the Samford Tournament.
HBU is batting .286 as a team on the season led by
Sierra Humphrey's .429 average. Humphrey comes into the game with only one strikeout across 28 AB's.
Heidi Jaquez follows her up with a even .400 average out of the leadoff spot. Jaquez is also a perfect 4-4 in stolen bases on the season.
Jessica Patak (1-5, 5.56 ERA),
Emma Guindon (2-0, 6.85 ERA), and Elliot Estes (2-1, 5.06 ERA) will see time in the circle for the Huskies.
