SB: Huskies drop midweek matchup at Texas
AUSTIN, TX- HBU softball fell to the University of Texas Wednesday evening in five innings as the Longhorns won by a score of 8-0.
HBU (5-6) struggled offensively as they were held to one hit by freshman
Autumn Sydlik, a single to third to leadoff the third inning.
Heidi Jaquez was the only other Husky to reach base as she drew a walk to lead off the game.
Jessica Patak (1-5) took the loss going 4.2 innings giving up four earned runs on six hits and one walk.
UT (13-1) were led by Reagan Hathaway and Shannon Rhodes. Each collected two hits and a RBI in the game with Hathaway hitting a homerun and coming around to score twice with Rhodes scoring once. Mary Iakopo also homered for the Longhorns driving in two on the night. Ariana Adams (2-0) got the win in the circle going 4 innings giving up one hit and one walk with three strikeouts. Brooke Bollinger closed the game out striking out the side in her lone inning of work.
HBU Softball next travels to Birmingham, Alabama to compete in the Samford Tournament this weekend starting Friday March 1 at 12:30p.m. against Jackson State. This will be their second meeting of the season with the Huskies taking the first matchup by a score of 4-0.
