MGOLF: HBU finishes in 11th after weather shortens tournament
HOUSTON, TX- HBU men's golf finished in 11th place after weather delays forced the tournament to be cut to 36 holes.
HBU shot a 32-over par 608 total which was thirty strokes out of first place. The Huskies were lead by
Mathew Chairuangdej who was 4-over par for the tournament good for a tie for 24th place. Daniel Dimaculangan was three strokes behind him with a 7-over par 151 total.
Nicko Martinez shot a 78 and 76 for a 154 total.
Ransom Jacobson and
Marcelo Trevino rounded out the Husky five man lineup with both of them shooting 12-over par 156 totals good for a tie for 65th place.
Colin Mulligan,
Patrik Jericha, and
Lucas Coapman competed as individuals for HBU with Mulligan shooting a 6-over par 150. Jericha shot a 9-over par 153 and Coapman shot a 15-over par 159.
Florida Gulf Coast took home the Team victory shooting a 2-over par 578 total. Houston and North Dakota State tied for second place with 4-over par 580 totals. Houston took the tiebreaker off of unused scores from rounds one and two.
Stetson's Baylor Payne took home the individual honors shooting scores of 67 and 74 for a 3-under par 141. There was a three way tie for second place between Prairie View A&M's Laurence Crea, North Dakota State's Van Holmgren, and Houston's Matt Williams. The three golfers shot 2-under par 142's for the tournament.
HBU will next compete in University of Houston's Border Olympics March 11th and 12th.
