SB: Huskies Set for Lady Demon Classic
Natchitoches, La.- HBU Softball is set for play in the Lady Demon Classic after some schedule changes due to weather. Play has been pushed back to Saturday where the Huskies first matchup against host team Northwestern State at 6p.m. directly following that game HBU will take on University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. Originally Saint Louis was set to compete in the tournament, but pulled out after the game were pushed back.
HBU (3-3) looks to build on the play of their last two games which saw the Huskies sweep a double-header against cross town rival Texas Southern. HBU comes in with a team batting average of .307 led by sophomore
Sierra Humphrey's .400 average with 2 doubles. Senior
Brooke Bushman and junior
Heidi Jaquez are tied for second on the team with .375 average. In the circle for the Huskies has been sophomore
Jessica Patak (1-2, 3.15 ERA) and freshman
Emma Guindon (2-0, 4.02 ERA). Combined they have 38 strikeouts in 35.2 innings pitched.
Northwestern State (4-6) are coming off of their own double header win against Fairleigh Dickinson. As a team the Lady Demons are batting .196 led by Cayla Jones .320 average and the run production of Riley Cantrell who has driven in 10 runs on the season thus far.
UAPB (0-6) is led by Kameron Graham who is currently batting .200, and Juliana Dominguez in the circle with a 6.79 ERA. The Golden Lions are coming off a pair of losses against fellow Southland team Central Arkansas.
HBU will return to action Sunday with a 10a.m. game against UAPB and then directly following that another game against host Northwestern State.Â
