HOUSTON – HBU returns home to host league-leading Stephen F. Austin in Southland Conference volleyball Saturday at 1 p.m. in Sharp Gym. The Husky Sports Network broadcast with Chase Hernandez will be available on HBUHuskies.com.
The Huskies (15-11, 7-4 SLC) have won five of their last six matches and are led by junior outside hitter
Mikayla Vivens, who averages 3.79 kills and 3.86 digs per set to rank among the top 10 in the conference in both categories. Sophomore outside hitter
Kelly Colwell averages 3.21 kills, which also ranks among the top 10, and 3.29 digs per set, while junior right side
Ashtyn Richey adds 2.49 kills per set. Junior setter
Morgan Dewyer leads the Southland with 10.88 assists per set and also averages 3.17 digs per set, while sophomore middle blocker
Ebonie Ballesteros ranks fifth in the league with 1.17 blocks per set. Senior libero
Hannah Lewis ranks 10
th with 3.64 digs per set.
SFA (23-1, 11-0 SLC) has won 28-straight Southland Conference matches dating back to 2017 and are led by Ann Hollas, who averages 2.31 kills, 2.46 digs, 5.34 assists and 1.14 blocks per set. Corin Evans averages 3.86 kills and 3.26 digs per set, while Danae Daron adds 2.14 kills and 1.09 blocks per set. Taya Mitchell leads the SLC with 1.60 blocks per set and Margaret Dean adds 5.66 assists and 3.06 digs per set.
The Huskies will be back in action when they host Central Arkansas Thursday, followed by Northwestern State for Senior Day Saturday in Sharp Gym.
