MSOC: Huskies Play Host to Pair of California Schools on the Weekend
HOUSTON, TX- HBU Men's Soccer is set to play host to two California schools this weekend starting with California Baptist Friday night at 7:30 P.M. following the Women's Soccer game. The Huskies will then turn their eyes to CSU-Bakersfield Sunday afternoon with kickoff set for 1:00 P.M.
HBU (5-9, 3-5 WAC) is coming into the weekend on a two game win streak taking down Grand Canyon by a score of 4-3 and beating out UNLV by a score of 3-1.
Dominick Faletto has an outstanding performance in the Grand Canyon game scoring all four goals for HBU earning him WAC offensive player of the week honors as well as being named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. Faletto now leads the Huskies in goals and points with
Gianluca Natera right behind him. Combined they have scored seven goals and tallied four assists.
Jorge Cabrera looks to get the start in goal for HBU as he comes into the game with 36 saves in nine games.
California Baptist (5-9-2, 4-3-1 WAC) come into the weekend off a victory over UIW Sunday after they dropped a match to UTRGV Friday. The Lancers are led by Tete Vacas who has ten points on the season coming from four goals and two assists. He is backed by Victor Aguiree who has nine points on three goals and three assists. Albert Escuin will get the start in goal coming into the weekend with 88 saves on the year.
CSU-Bakersfield (5-9, 4-4 WAC) come into the weekend riding a pair of victories with the first coming against UIW before taking down UTRGV. Ryan Goldsmith leads the roadrunners with five goals and three assists on the year for 13 points. Niklas Korber follows him up with four goals and two assists. Detre Bell looks to start in the net for CSU-Bakersfield making 10 starts on the season with three shutouts.
