NACOGDOCHES, Texas – HBU nearly tied the match, getting to set point in the fourth, but Stephen F. Austin pulled off a furious comeback to pull out a 3-1 (25-21, 25-13, 20-25, 27-25) victory over the Huskies in Southland Conference Volleyball Thursday night at Johnson Coliseum.
 
Sophomore outside hitter 
Mikayla Vivens recorded her league-leading 12
th double-double of the season with 15 kills and 12 digs, while senior setter 
Madison O'Brien posted her eighth with 40 assists, a team-leading 18 digs and four kills for the Huskies (8-9, 1-2 SLC). Sophomore right side 
Ashtyn Richey added 11 kills and sophomore middle blocker 
Megan Patillo added nine to go along with six blocks. Freshman outside hitters 
Jada Allen and 
Catherine Drapela chipped in with five kills each. Junior libero 
Hannah Lewis came up with 13 digs, junior defensive specialist 
Camie Copeland had 12 and freshman defensive specialist 
Cici Collins had eight.
 
Haley Coleman led SFA (16-2, 3-0) with 19 kills and 16 digs, while Peyton Redmond added 12 kills and 15 digs. Danae Daron and Xariah Williams each recorded eight kills. Ann Hollas had 29 assists, with Makenzie Brewer dishing out 16 to go along with 11 digs. Sabrina Monaco had 18 digs and Daron, Hollas and Anyia Williams each had four blocks.
 
SFA hit .231 for the match, while holding HBU to .142. The Lady Jacks outdug the Huskies, 82-74, and outblocked them, 9-8.
 
In the first set, the Huskies led 15-13, but the Lady Jacks reeled off four-straight points to gain the advantage. After HBU sided out, SFA scored four of the next five to lead 21-17. When the Lady Jacks got to set point at 24-18, the Huskies fought back for three in row, but SFA called a timeout and Coleman put it away with a kill for a 25-21 decision.
 
The second set was all SFA as a five-point run put the Lady Jacks ahead, 15-6, and they would go on for a 25-13 win.
 
After SFA jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the third, and extended the advantage to 13-5, when HBU answered the bell. The Huskies chipped away until they trailed by two at 19-17, then scored the three, which included kills by Patillo and Davenport to jump ahead by one. The Lady Jacks sided out to tie it at 20-20, but the Huskies scored the final five points of the set for a 25-20 victory.
 
The Huskies scored four of the first five points of the fourth, but the Lady Jacks rebounded to the set, 6-6. HBU jumped back up by five and still led by that margin at 19-14. SFA scored three-straight to close within two, but HBU responded with a three-point run of its own to regain a five-point lead. The Huskies reached set point at 24-21, but the Lady Jacks scored three in a row to tie it. HBU sided out on a kill by Patillo, but SFA rallied for the final three points of the set to clinch the match, 27-25.
 
The Huskies wrap up the short road trip against Central Arkansas Saturday at noon at the Prince Center.
