HOUSTON – HBU rebounded from a first-set loss to take down UT Rio Grande Valley, 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-18) for the Barcelona Sporting Goods HBU Classic title Saturday at Sharp Gym.

Mikayla Vivens was named the Most Valuable Player, recording her second double-double of the tournament with career highs of 17 kills and 14 digs for HBU (3-0). Three Huskies recorded 12 kills apiece in redshirt freshman outside hitter

Madison O'Brien had 46 assists, 13 digs and five blocks, while junior libero
Hannah Lewis came up with 21 digs. Lewis and Patillo joined Vivens on the All-Tournament Team.
Pamela Moreira led UTRGV (2-1) with 19 kills to go along with 12 digs, while Barbara Silva added 13 kills. Alexandra Ecker had 10 kills and four blocks. Debora Nazario handed out 45 assists, while Gysell Zayas posted 25 digs. Moreira and Ecker were named to the All-Tournament Team.
HBU hit .276 for the match, while holding UTRGV to .185. The Huskies outdug the Vaqueros, 64-61, and outblocked them, 10-7.
The Huskies return to action at Texas Southern Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., before heading to the Rice Adidas Invitational to face Liberty, South Carolina and Rice Friday and Saturday at Tudor Fieldhouse.
