KANSAS CITY, Mo. – HBU men's soccer will wrap up the 2018 season with a Western Athletic Conference contest against the Kangaroos of UMKC on Saturday evening at Durwood Soccer Stadium.
The Huskies (5-7-3, 3-5-1 WAC) split a pair of games in California last weekend, first picking up a 3-1 win over CSU Bakersfield before dropping a 2-1 match in overtime at California Baptist. HBU's four goals on the weekend were scored by four different players with three different players each getting credit for one assist.
Junior
Khalil Thomas leads the Huskies in minutes played this season with 1,333 while starting all 15 games, helping anchor the HBU back line along with seniors
Devon Grant and
Gabriel Camera. Offensively, sophomore
Gianluca Natera continues to pace the Huskies with five goals and five assists.
The Roos started the season 2-9-0 but have won two of their last three with those victories coming over Grand Canyon and CSUB. UMKC has been out-scored 31-10 over the course of the season, and shutout eight times, with no player having scored more than two goals. Senior Pandelis Popgeorgiev and junior Antoine Precheur each have two goals and are tied for the team lead in points with five, along with junior Tim Staerz. In goal, Filippo Errico has played the majority of the minutes, making 57 saves with a save percentage of .679 and a 1.90 goals against average.
HBU is 3-1-1 all-time against the 'Roos and has won the previous two meetings, including a 3-1 win at Sorrels Field last season.
