Mikayla Vivens recorded her league-leading 24
th double-double, but the fifth-seeded Huskies were eliminated by top-seeded Stephen F. Austin, 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-18), in the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tournament Saturday afternoon at Prather Coliseum.
Vivens posted a match-high 14 kills to go along with 13 digs. Sophomore middle blocker
Megan Patillo had eight kills and four blocks, while senior middle blocker
Kayla Davenport had six blocks for the Huskies (16-16). Senior setter
Madison O'Brien had 27 assists, eight digs and six kills. Junior libero
Hannah Lewis came up with 17 digs, while freshman defensive specialist
Cici Collins and junior defensive specialist
Camie Copeland each had seven.
Makenzee Hanna hit .550 with 12 kills and only one error, while Haley Coleman had nine kills and eight digs for the Ladyjacks (31-2). Ann Hollas dished out 22 assists with 11 digs, while McKenzie Brewer had 12 assists and seven digs. Hollas and Danae Daron each had four blocks and Anyia Williams had five. Sabrina Monaco chipped in with 11 digs.
SFA hit .193 for the match, while holding HBU to .138. The Huskies outdug the Ladyjacks, 55-51, and held a slight edge in blocks, 10.5-10. SFA had seven aces to HBU's one.
SFA will face second-seeded Central Arkansas in the championship match Sunday at 3:05 p.m.
