HOUSTON – On Wednesday afternoon, HBU head men's soccer coach Ryan Pratt announced the signing of local product Johann Fitch and Mexico international Luis Población to National Letters of Intent to join the Huskies for the 2019 season.

Fitch is a defender from Clements High School in Sugar Land. A three-year starter for coach Todd Ericson at Clements, Fitch has earned second team all-district honors twice and is currently a team captain. He has earned academic honors and plays club soccer for former MLS player Josh Gardner and the Albion Hurricanes.

"We are looking forward to Johann joining us this fall," said Pratt. "He has good speed and is very good at one-on-one defending. He does a great job of getting in the attack and serving in great crosses. He will be a great fit for the system and style of our team, both defending and attacking."

Hailing from Mexico City, Población has attended Universidad CNCI Mexico in Mexico City and played club for Cruz Azul U20, part of the Cruz Azul Futbol Club which is the largest club in the country. A central midfielder, Población has been a part of numerous national club championships and participated in the U17 World Cup.

"We are extremely excited to have Luis joining our program," Pratt stated. "He is a tremendous player with great technical abilities, exceptional vision and he will be able to unlock defenses with his superb passing. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience and we're looking forward to him making an immediate impact within our team."

"Luis and Johann will strengthen our team and make our program better," added Pratt. "They are both outstanding people and outstanding students. They will fit in very well with our program's goals on the field, in the community and in the classroom"

"We are in the process of finalizing a few more key players to wrap up our 2019 recruiting class," Pratt continued. "We're hoping to add two to three more student-athletes to this class in the coming months."

Fitch and Población will join a Husky program that saw seven players recognized as honorable mention all-WAC selection and lost seven seniors from its 2018 roster.
