HOUSTON – This weekend marks the final home games of the 2018 season for the HBU men's soccer team as the Huskies aim to gain ground in the Western Athletic Conference standings while also giving special recognition to the seven seniors on the roster on Senior Night at Sorrels Field on Friday.

HBU (4-5-3, 2-3-1 WAC) enters the weekend tied for seventh with seven points while Friday's opponent, Grand Canyon (6-7-0, 3-3-0 WAC), is currently sixth with nine points. UNLV (7-7-1, 2-3-1 WAC), Sunday's opponent, and CSU Bakersfield are both tied with the Huskies. The WAC expanded its tournament this season from six teams to seven.

Last weekend, the Huskies dropped their lone game at No. 15 Air Force by a score of 4-0. HBU has lost its last two games but has not lost more than two-straight all season. At home, the Huskies boast a 2-1-3 record. Sophomore goalkeeper Jorge Cabrera continues to pace the league in saves with 58 on the year.

While Grand Canyon sports a losing record for the season, the Lopes also own three wins over ranked opponents, including a 2-1 season-opening win over 12th-ranked Wisconsin. The Lopes have a penchant for low-scoring games having scored just 10 goals in 13 matches while opponents have totaled all of 12 goals. Freshman Calvin Kissi is the lone GCU player with multiple goals on the season with two and he also has one assist to lead the team with five points. Goalkeeper George Tasouris, also a freshman, is 5-7-0 in goal with a 0.93 goals against average and a save percentage of .831.

UNLV, meanwhile, comes into the game with a 1-2-1 mark over the last four games and a 3-6-0 mark on the road this season. The Rebels' sophomore Marco Gonzalez is tied for fourth in the WAC with seven goals while his 17 points (7 goals, 3 assists) also tie him for fourth in the league. Senior Daniel Moran has scored five goals for UNLV. Junior Enrique Adame has seen the majority of time in goal, sporting a 5-6-1 record with a .723 save percentage and a goals against average of 1.33.

Friday's game against GCU begins at 7:00 p.m. with a special senior recognition ceremony taking place shortly before the start of the game. On Sunday, the Huskies and Rebels will kick-off at 1:00 p.m.

The Huskies will be on the road for their final three games, beginning with a two-game trip to California next weekend where they will face CSU Bakersfield in Bakersfield, Calif. on Friday before heading to Riverside, Calif. to take on California Baptist.
