NACOGDOCHES, Texas – HBU was unable to solve Stephen F. Austin starting pitcher Callee Guffey as the Huskies fell to the Ladyjacks by a score of 2-0 on Friday afternoon at the SFA Softball Field.

HBU (13-21, 4-14 SLC) threatened in the top of the second with Libby Brown and Brooke Bushman connecting for a pair of two-out singles but both were stranded on base. In the SFA (15-26, 7-8 SLC) third, a single and a double put runners in scoring position with one, allowing Brittany Lewis to score Madison Clements with a sacrifice fly to right field and put SFA ahead 1-0.

The Huskies again got a runner to second in the fourth after a two-out single by Kassie James who then moved up to second on a wild pitch, however, the junior was left at second at the end of the inning. HBU put runners on first and second once more in the sixth. Heidi Jaquez led the inning off with a single and moved up to second with Nicole Shedd reaching on an error with two outs but the Husky threat ended there. In the bottom of the sixth, Lewis hit her fifth home run of the season to make it 2-0.

Senior Emily Mueller allowed just two earned runs on five hits over six innings in the circle but was handed the loss, dropping her season record to 6-13. She struck out two and walked one in the loss.

The Huskies managed just four singles in the game but left seven runners on base throughout the game.

HBU will play its final road series of the season next weekend when the Huskies travel to Corpus Christi, Texas to face the Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with a doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21 and a single game at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22.
