NATCHITOCHES, La. – This Thursday evening, HBU will continue its march to Katy and the Southland Conference Tournament by taking on Northwestern State at Prather Coliseum in men's basketball action with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. Fans can listen to the action live via the Legacy Sports Network live broadcast with Lonnie King, available at HBUHuskies.com.

HBU (9-12, 5-6 SLC) is fresh off an 84-70 home victory in a rematch with Incarnate Word this past Saturday. Sophomore Braxton Bonds posted a career-high 22 points along with seven rebounds, connecting on 8-of-12 from the field and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe. Reveal Chukwujekwu recorded his sixth double-double of the season, finishing with 14 points and 12 boards along with four steals.

The Huskies continue to be among the best in the conference on the boards, leading all Southland teams with an average of 38 rebounds per contest and a rebounding margin of +4.7. In the win over the Cardinals, HBU held a 48-23 advantage on the boards, with 20 of those 48 coming on the offensive end and leading to 28 second chance points. The Huskies are currently 15th in the nation in offensive rebounding, averaging 13.57 per contest.

Sabri Thompson has been leading the way for the Demons (9-12, 3-7 SLC) since an injury to top-scorer Zeek Woodley, averaging 13.1 points per game on the season and 17.5 in Southland play. Devonte Hall is second with 11 points per game while Ishmael Lane adds 9.7 per outing to go with his team leading 5.8 rebounds. As a team, Northwestern State is shooting 43.8 percent as a team and average 76 points per game.

NSU dropped a heartbreaker in its last game, falling at home in overtime to Stephen F. Austin, 75-73. The Demons' starting lineup accounted for every single one of their points in the loss, getting 20 from Iziahiah Sweeney, 19 from Lane, 17 from Hall and 13 from Thompson. That game saw 17 lead changes and 14 ties, swinging back and forth throughout.

This game will be the only meeting of the regular season between the two teams after they faced off just once last season, a 99-73 Husky win in Natchitoches. After taking a five-point lead into the half, the Huskies blistered the Demons in the second half, shooting nearly 58 percent in the half and knocking down seven treys to out-score NSU by 21.

HBU returns home on Saturday for Retro Night at Sharp Gym against Lamar with tip-off at 7:00 p.m. The Huskies will be wearing throwback uniforms in homage to the threads worn by the 1974-75 team and fans are encouraged to wear their own retro attire to the game. Saturday's game will be sponsored by Houston Federal Credit Union.
