HOUSTON – HBU finishes the regular season with a pair of matches at home, beginning with New Orleans Thursday, followed by Southeastern Louisiana Saturday in Southland Conference volleyball at Sharp Gym.
Thursday's match begins at 7 p.m., then 11 a.m. on Saturday. HBU will recognize its five seniors on Senior Day prior to Saturday match.
The Huskies (18-9, 9-5 SLC) have already clinched a spot in next weekend's Southland Conference Tournament in Corpus Christi. Senior outside hitters
Bailey Banks and
Jessica Wooten lead HBU's offense, with Banks averaging 3.61 kills and 3.17 digs per set and Wooten averaging 3.05 kills and 3.64 digs per set. Senior middle blocker Blair Gilllard adds 1.86 kills and leads the league with 1.33 blocks per set. Redshirt freshman outside hitter Ashtyn Richey contributes 1.91 kills per set and junior middle blocker
Kayla Davenport blocks 1.07 attempts per set. Freshman setter Abby Gargus paces the Huskies with 9.60 assists per set and senior libero
Hailey Erickson anchors the defense with 4.08 digs per set.
UNO (12-15, 6-9) is led by Blessing Dunn's 2.29 kills, 3.10 digs and 1.20 blocks per set, while Lane Hindenburg averages 2.24 kills per set and Kaitlyn Grice adds 2.09 kills per set. Sarah Thomas hands out 6.03 assists per set and Manela Grau averages 5.86 assists per set. Andrea Nava comes up with 2.90 digs per set.
SLU (3-26, 1-14) is led by Savannah Alcazar with 2.38 kills and 2.33 digs per set and Elyssa Purcell adds 2.07 kills per set. Haley Baker averages 5.38 assists per set and Michelle Mirarchi adds 3.80 per set. Lexie Torres leads the Lady Lions defensively with 3.70 digs per set.
HBU is currently tied for fourth in the conference standings and can finish anywhere from third to eighth. The SLC Tournament hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will be held Friday, Nov. 17 through Sunday, Nov. 19 at Dugan Wellness Center.
