HAMMOND, Louisiana – Coming off a pair of sweeps at home, HBU looks to extend its winning ways when it heads back on the road to face Southeastern Louisiana Thursday, then New Orleans Saturday in Southland Conference volleyball this week.
Thursday's match begins at 6 p.m. at University Center in Hammond and Saturday's match starts with a noon first serve at the Human Performance Center in New Orleans.
Senior outside hitter
Bailey Banks ranks second in the league with 3.75 kills per set and adds 3.16 digs per set, while fellow senior outside hitter
Jessica Wooten posts 2.92 kills and is the only non-libero among the top 10 in the SLC with 3.59 digs per set. Freshman setter
Abby Gargus paces the Huskies (12-5, 4-1 SLC) with 10.36 assists per set to rank second in the conference and also adds 2.20 digs and 1.09 kills per set. Senior middle blocker
Blair Gillard leads the league with 1.32 blocks per set and junior middle blocker
Kayla Davenport ranks eighth with 1.02. Senior libero
Hailey Erickson comes in at eighth in the conference with 3.82 digs per set and redshirt freshman right side
Ashtyn Richey chips in with 2.20 kills per set.
Savannah Alcazar (2.18 kills per set) and Chloee Holden (2.00 kills per set) lead the Lady Lions (2-16, 0-4) offensively. Haley Baker (5.74 assists per set) and Michelle Mirarchi (3.18 assists per set) split the setting duties in SLU's 6-2 attack. Lexie Torres averages 3.46 digs per set and is helped out defensively by Alcazar's 2.23 digs per set.
Blessing Dunn and Kaitlyn Grice each average 2.11 kills per set for UNO (7-10, 1-4), followed closely by Lane Hindenburg with 2.09. Manela Grau leads the Privateers with 6.71 assists per set, with Sarah Thomas running the other half of the 6-2 with 4.70 assists per set. Dunn also leads UNO with 2.98 digs per set, with Andrea Nava adding 2.94. Grice blocks 1.22 attempts per set to rank third in the conference.
The Huskies return home next week to host Sam Houston State for Dig Pink night Thursday at 7 p.m., followed by Abilene Christian Saturday at 1 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
