CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – HBU will play its final two road matches of the regular season when it faces Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday, then Incarnate Word Saturday in Southland Conference volleyball.
Thursday's match at Dugan Wellness Center begins at 7 p.m., followed by Saturday's 11 a.m. matchup at McDermott Convocation Center in San Antonio.
The Huskies (17-6, 8-2 SLC) are led by senior outside hitters
Bailey Banks and
Jessica Wooten, who comprise half of HBU's career 1,000 kill-1,000 dig Club. For the season, Banks leads the conference with 3.95 kills per set and adds 3.35 digs per set, while Wooten averages 3.02 kills and 3.71 digs per set. Senior middle blocker
Blair Gillard, the SLC's all-time block assists leader, leads the league with 1.38 blocks per set, and junior middle blocker
Kayla Davenport is seventh with 1.06. Junior setter
Madison O'Brien ranks fourth in the league with 9.58 assists per set and senior libero
Hailey Erickson is seventh with 4.11 digs per set.
Two-time defending SLC champion TAMU-CC (9-13, 6-5) is led by Brittany Gilpin, who averages 3.22 kills and 2.64 digs per set, while Mallory Moran and Chloe Simon each average just under 2.00 kills per set. Kristyn Nicholson paces the Islanders' offense with 9.42 assists per set and Madison Woods anchors the defense with 4.51 digs per set, which is good for fifth in the SLC.
Autumn Lockley averages 2.94 kills per set and Julia Monday adds 2.00 kills per set for UIW (4-14, 3-8). Madison Williams guides the Cardinals' attack with 8.87 assists per set and Madelyn Miller ranks fourth in the conference with 4.54 digs per set.
HBU returns home to finish the season with four-straight at home, beginning with Central Arkansas Thursday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
