HOUSTON – HBU welcomes Sam Houston State Thursday, then Abilene Christian Saturday in Southland Conference volleyball this week at Sharp Gym.
Thursday's match begins at 7 p.m. and is the Huskies' annual Dig Pink Match, which benefits breast cancer research charities. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to match HBU's special uniforms and help support breast cancer awareness. Saturday's match begins at 1 p.m. and fans can receive free admission by showing their ticket to that evening's HBU football game.

Bailey Banks leads the Southland in kills, averaging 3.84 per set as well as 3.22 digs per set, while senior outside hitter
Jessica Wooten averages 2.94 kills and 3.61 digs per set for the Huskies (14-5, 6-1 SLC). Senior middle blocker
Blair Gillard leads the league with 1.41 blocks per set and junior
Kayla Davenport is sixth with 1.05. Freshman setter
Abby Gargus ranks second in the league with 10.36 assists per set, but has missed the last two matches with an injury, and junior setter
Madison O'Brien is averaging 9.19 assists per set this season. After a huge week defensively, senior libero
Hailey Erickson is averaging 4.03 digs per set to rank seventh in the conference.
Sam Houston State (9-9, 6-0) is the only remaining undefeated team in the league coming into Thursday's showdown with the second-place Huskies. The Bearkats are led by Jordyn Vaughn, who ranks second in the league behind Banks with 3.78 kills per set and averages 2.10 digs per set. Brooke White contributes 3.62 kills and 2.62 digs per set. Jaclyn Ward paces the offense with 9.87 assists per set and Addison Miller leads SHSU defensively with 3.46 digs per set. Taylor Cunningham adds 2.49 kills and a team-leading 1.00 block per set.
Jacey Smith leads ACU (6-12, 2-4) with 2.58 kills and 2.21 digs per set, while Katelyn Mueller chips in with 2.52 kills and 2.27 digs per set. Kendall Bosse hands out 8.04 assists per set and Amanda Chapa comes up with 4.40 digs per set. Lorin McNeil leads the Wildcats with 1.18 blocks per set and Lauren Walker stuffs 1.05 attempts per set.
Next week, HBU will be on the road at Northwestern State Tuesday, followed by Prairie View A&M Wednesday in Prairie View.
