CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The HBU men's basketball teams heads to Corpus Christi to face off with the Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in mid-week Southland Conference action on Wednesday at the American Bank Center with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m. Lonnie King will be broadcasting live on the Legacy Sports Network available at HBUHuskies.com.
 
The Huskies (8-11, 4-5 SLC) are coming off an 83-80 home victory over Nicholls that snapped a four-game losing skid. Senior Reveal Chukwujekwu scored 18 points in the second half, and a career-high 23 for the game, to lead HBU back from a five-point halftime deficit. Braxton Bonds and Josh Ibarra each finished with 12 points while Colter Lasher added 11 for HBU. The Huskies held a 46-27 advantage over the Colonels on the boards and shot 52.6 percent (30-of-57).
 
For the season, HBU is averaging 76.3 points per game and owns a +3.8 rebounding margin against its competition. Lasher leads the team in scoring with 14.5 points per game while Chukwujekwu is second in scoring with 11.8 points and first in rebounding with 7.6 per contest. Bonds is leading the Huskies in both assists and steals, 2.9 assists and 1.9 steals. His 1.9 steals per game is good for the 54th best mark in the nation.
 
The Islanders (11-9, 4-5 SLC) are 8-1 on their home floor this season with their sole loss coming to defending SLC champion Stephen F. Austin. Rashawn Thomas is the leading scorer for TAMUCC, scoring 19.4 per outing. In conference play, he ranks first in both scoring (22.1 points per game) and rebounding (9 rebounds per game). Ehab Amin is adding 18 points per contest and is second nationally with 3.35 steals per game.
 
In their last outing, the Islanders knocked off Abilene Christian at home by a score of 72-60. Thomas finished with 28 points and 11 rebounds while Amin added 23 points. TAMUCC's starting five accounted for all but five of the team's points in the win.
 
HBU is 4-6 all-time against the Islanders but has lost the last three meetings. The two teams will meet against during the final week of the season, facing off on Wednesday, March 1, in Sharp Gym.
 
The Huskies return to Sharp Gym for their next game, a rematch with Incarnate Word, on Saturday, February 4, at 7:00 p.m.
