The Huskies will visit UNC-Greensboro in the first round in a 6 p.m. tip on March 16 at Greensboro Coliseum.
ESPN3 will broadcast the action with Scott Pryzwansky on the call and Darryl Kosciak providing color, while the Legacy Sports Network with Lonnie King will carry the audio broadcast on HBUHuskies.com.
HBU (17-16), is coming off a 1-1 showing in the 2016 Southland Conference Tournament. As the fourth seed, the Huskies knocked off fifth-seeded Southeastern Louisiana in the quarterfinals, before bowing out to top-seeded and eventual tournament champion Stephen F. Austin in the semifinals.
HBU, which ranks 31st in the country in field goal percentage (.476), led the Southland in the regular season in defensive rebounding (26.2), ranked second in field goal percentage (.480) and field goal percentage defense (.436) and third in scoring (77.4 per game). For the season, sophomore
Josh Ibarra led the league in field goal percentage (.631) and senior
Jourdan Stickler held the top mark in 3-point field goal percentage (.459). Senior
Anthony Odunsi, who was third in the league in scoring (17.8 per game), ranks third at the NCAA Division I level in made free throws (248) and in overall attempts (296). Odunsi was named first team All-SLC, while Ibarra was named honorable mention All-SLC.
Freshman
Isaiah Robinson, who finished third in the SLC in blocks, sits sixth in the country among all freshman and 35th overall with 2.19 per game. He is also tied for ninth overall among freshman with 57 total blocks.
The Spartans (14-18) enter the CBI after finishing sixth in the Southern Conference. Junior center R.J. White (First Team) and junior guard Diante Baldwin (Third Team) garnered All-SoCon honors, while freshman guard Francis Alonso was named to the league's All-Freshman Team.
The victor will face the winner of Albany and Ohio in the second round of the CBI on March 21.
