Game NotesNORMAL, Ill. – The HBU men's basketball team will take to the court for the third time in seven days on Saturday, visiting Illinois State in a 6 p.m. tip. ESPN3 will broadcast the game with Kurt Pegler handling play-by-play and Bob Morris providing color commentary, while the Legacy Sports Network with Bill Cousins will carry the audio broadcast on HBUHuskies.com.
HBU (1-2) is coming off a 90-63 loss at TCU on Thursday. The Huskies were slow to start against the Horned Frogs, making just six of their first 25 shots as TCU build a 32-point first-half lead. HBU fared much better in the second half, but was unable to make up any ground, being outscored 46-44 in the period.
Senior
Anthony Odunsi led HBU with 14 points, four rebounds and five assists, shooting 4-for-7 from the field and 6-for-8 from the charity stripe. Junior
Colter Lasher scored 11 points, with three hits from deep, while senior
Jourdan Stickler added nine off the bench. Sophomore
Josh Ibarra crashed the boards for five rebounds to accompany six points as a reserve. The Huskies shot 44.7 percent (21-for-47) from the floor, 30.8 percent (4-for-13) from 3-point range and 63 percent (17-for-27) from the line. The Horned Frogs out rebounded HBU, 36-28.
The Redbirds (1-2) enter Saturday's affair hosting their final game of a three-game homestand. ISU fell 83-67 to South Dakota State on Thursday, as Redbirds DeVaug Akoon-Purcell (15 points), Paris Lee (14 points) and MiKyle McIntosh (12 points) all finished in double figures.
Saturday's tilt marks the end of non-bracketed play associated with the Cancun Challenge. Following the game, HBU will travel to the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya near Cancun, Mexico, to conclude the tournament. The Huskies will face South Dakota State on Tuesday, before taking on either Cleveland State or Rider on Wednesday.
