CONWAY, Ark. – The HBU volleyball team will open their participation in the 2015 Southland Conference Tournament on Friday, facing third-seeded Stephen F. Austin in a 4 p.m. first serve inside Farris Center on the campus of Central Arkansas.

The Huskies (15-16) enter the tournament as the six seed after finishing 7-9 in league play.

At the conclusion of the regular season, sophomore outside hitter Bailey Banks was named the Southland's Newcomer of the Year. Senior middle blocker Allison Doerpinghaus and junior outside hitter Jessica Wooten were named second team All-SLC, while junior setter Kayla Armer and Banks garnered honorable mention (Release).

Armer has been a steady presence for HBU all season and with 3,631 career assists, she is the program's all-time assist leader in the Division I era with one season as a Husky still to be played.

"Kayla has been our starting setter from day one when she arrived on campus," head coach Trent Herman said. "She has been a true leader for our team on and off the court. To be the all-time assist leader in just three seasons is a great accomplishment. I look forward to seeing where she can help take this program in her senior season."

SFA enters the tournament with a 20-13 record, posting an 11-5 mark in SLC action. The Ladyjacks, who closed the regular with a 3-2 loss to Incarnate Word, are guided into the tournament by a trio of leaders. Senior libero OJ Olson and junior middle blocker Justice Walker represented SFA as first team All-SLC selections, while senior middle Jacque Allen was named to the second team. Olson ranks fifth among NCAA Division I participants with 638 digs, averaging 5.15 per set. Walker led the Ladyjacks in kills (337), while Allen is second at SFA in kills (289), kills per set (2.39) and attack percentage (.307).

All-tournament passes are $20 for adults and $10 for youth 18 and under, while single-day passes are $10 and $5. Students of SLC members will get in for free with a school ID.
