HOUSTON – HBU has announced that its first-ever football game against a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) institution will take place in the 2016 season opener, when the Huskies face Western Kentucky, HBU Director of Athletics Steve Moniaci released Thursday.

The game between the Huskies and the Hilltoppers will be held Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium in Bowling Green, Ky.

"We are very pleased to announce our 2016 football season opener will be at Western Kentucky," Moniaci said. "This will be our program's first game against an FBS opponent and should be an exciting trip for our student-athletes, as well as an important step in their growth as a team."

Western Kentucky is entering its first season as a member of Conference USA in 2014, after going 8-4 overall and 4-3 in its final season in the Sun Belt Conference last year.

HBU has a non-conference home game against Northern Colorado scheduled for 2015, leaving two openings, then the Western Kentucky game and a home game against Texas Southern in 2016, leaving one non-conference opening.
