Men’s Soccer Battles LIU Brooklyn Friday, Army Sunday

First-ever meetings against both schools

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The HBU men's soccer team flew halfway across the country this morning to the Big Apple to play a pair of first-time opponents. The Huskies will begin the weekend against LIU Brooklyn on Friday at 5 pm central, then conclude the trip against Army on Sunday at 12 pm central.

HBU (2-2-0) hasn't played since a 1-1-0 trip to Indianapolis Sept. 9-11, as the Huskies lost to Butler 4-1, then defeated IUPUI 2-1. Tobenna Uzo scored against the Bulldogs on Monday, while Charlie Gagnon and Stefan Lamanna scored in Wednesday's win over the Jaguars. George Kelley made a career-high six saves in his second win on the season.

On the season, Uzo leads the Huskies with three goals and six points. Gustavo Alvarado has three points on a goal and an assist.

In goal, Kelley is 2-2-0 with a 1.81 goals-against average, and a .600 save percentage.

LIU Brooklyn (1-4-1) lost at Rider, 1-0, on Sept. 17. Prior to that, the Blackbirds defeated Manhattan on the road, 2-0, on Sept. 13.

Tanner Sica and Nathan Stewart each lead the Blackbirds with one goal and two points.

In goal, John Connolly is 1-4-1 with a 1.09 GAA, a .794 save percentage, and two shutouts.

HBU will have its hands full with Army (5-0-1), who has yet to yield a goal, as the Black Knights have outscored their opponents, 9-0. In their latest match, the Black Knights tied Quinnipiac on the road, 0-0 in double overtime, on Sept. 18.

Ethan Spivack and Nick Williams both lead Army with two goals and four points. Three other players have three points.

Between the pipes, Winston Boldt is 5-0-1 with perfect GAA and save percentages, with six shutouts. He has made 22 saves on the season.
