PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – HBU senior middle blocker
Caiti Wenger recorded 14 kills to help the Huskies get a 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-18) sweep over Prairie View A&M Tuesday night at the William Nicks Building.
Wenger had an overall attack percentage of .650, along with three block solos. Freshman outside hitter
Jessica Wooten recorded six kills for HBU (5-3). Junior libero
Haley Hoffman recorded seven digs. Freshman setter
Kayla Armer had 17 assists and six digs, while junior outside hitter
Megan McStravick also had six digs for the Huskies.
Magda Zietek had 11 kills for the Panthers, while fellow teammate Janette Batista had nine kills. Kelsey Espinosa had 19 assists for Prairie View. Zietek, Batista, and Espinosa all recorded five digs each for the Panthers.
The Huskies outhit the Panthers .447 to .156. HBU had a total of 30 digs, while Prairie View A&M had 22 digs. The Huskies outblocked the Panthers 6-3.
The Huskies return to action at the Rice Invitational Tournament beginning Friday, September 13 at the Tudor Fieldhouse. HBU will first play Rice at 11 a.m., followed by a match against North Carolina State at 5:30 p.m. The Huskies will then continue to play Saturday with a match against Missouri at 11 a.m.
