LAKE CHARLES, La. – Junior middle blocker
Madeline Gaffney led the Huskies with 17 kills in their 3-2 (18-25, 25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 14-16) fall to McNeese State Tuesday evening in Southland Conference volleyball.
Freshman outside hitter
Jessica Wooten recorded 14 kills for the Huskies, along with 11 digs. Senior middle blocker
Caiti Wenger also had 14 kills for HBU (13-16, 8-8 SLC). Freshman setter
Kayla Armer had a double-double with 57 assists and 11 digs for the Huskies. Junior libero
Haley Hoffman led HBU with 12 digs.
Malina Sanchez had a match-high of 20 kills for McNeese. Both Amber Fryer and Sophie Tenbusch recorded 13 kills for the Cowgirls. Sanchez also had 12 digs for McNeese. Vanessa Bentley recorded 65 assists and 19 digs for the Cowgirls. Kara Rockey led McNeese with 21 digs.
The Cowgirls outhit the Huskies by just five kills. McNeese State outdug HBU 71-67. The Cowgirls outblocked the Huskies 13-4.
The Huskies return to action Thursday, Nov. 14 as they face Sam Houston State University at 7 p.m. in Sharp Gym.
