SAN ANTONIO – HBU will face a future Southland Conference rival for the second-straight game when the Huskies travel to take on Incarnate Word Saturday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m. at Gayle & Tom Benson Stadium. The Huskies (2-2) are coming off a loss to Abilene Christian, who will join the Southland with HBU in 2014, two weeks ago at BBVA Compass Stadium. HBU is led by freshman running backs
B.J. Kelly, who has 324 yards and three touchdowns, and Craig Bell Jr., who has 227 yards and four touchdowns. Freshman quarterback
Ka'Darius Baker has completed 62.1 percent of his passes for 629 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Junior
Darian Lazard and freshman
Ethan Fry lead the Huskies with 12 catches apiece, but freshman
Wesley Lewis leads HBU with 155 receiving yards. Terrell Brown leads the team with 36 tackles, followed by
Garrett Dolan with 33, and
Cody Moncure with 32.
Taylor Thompson has a pair of interceptions, each coming in the red zone, while
Keith Ewing has 1.5 sacks.
UIW (3-4) is also coming off a loss to Abilene Christian this past weekend. The Cardinals are led by quarterback Trent Brittain, who has completed 53.4 percent of his passes for 1,249 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions, to go along with 302 rushing yards. Running back Junior Sessions has run for 373 yards and five touchdowns. Casey Jennings leads UIW with 33 catches for 494 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, Deving Haywood leads the Cardinals with 32 tackles, while Nick Ginn and Brandon Tanksley have 31 each and Robby Horton has three sacks.
The Huskies will finish off their season at home, facing Texas College Nov. 2, then Texas A&M-Commerce on Homecoming Nov. 9. Both games will be played at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory's Crusader Stadium.
