WASHINGTON, D.C. – Houston Baptist won its third match in the last four, as the Huskies defeated host Howard, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Greene Stadium.
Walter Kromholz scored the game's only goal, assisted by
Kristopher Tyrpak. The Huskies outshot the Bison, 13-4, as
Leonel Munoz had a match-high three shots.
John McDuffee, Kromholz, Munoz and
Zach Pierce each had a shot on goal.
Kevin Suarez earned the victory, making three saves.
Austin O'Brien led Howard with three shots, two on goal. Kashmar Briscoe had the Bison's only other shot on goal.
Eric Hamilton took the loss in goal, making three saves and allowing one goal.
The only scoring of the match came in the 84th minute, as Kromholz scored on a cross to the left of the box, assisted by Tyrpak.
“The boys played a great game,” said head coach
Steve Jones. “We controlled the ball for the majority of the game and had several counter attacks that we just couldn't convert on. The boys deserved the win.”
HBU (3-10-2, 2-2-0 ASC) will now await what seed and who the Huskies will play in the upcoming Atlantic Soccer Conference Tournament, hosted by Adelphi University and held from Nov. 10-13. Check back to www.hbuhuskies.com for updates.
