HOUSTON – Visiting Adelphi scored the only goal of the match with 22 seconds remaining in regulation, as the Panthers defeated Houston Baptist, 1-0, in the conference opener for both teams Saturday night, Oct. 1 at Sorrels Field.
The match was very even throughout, with HBU leading, 13-12, on shots, but Adelphi leading in shots on goal, 8-7. Corner kicks were tied at four apiece, all coming in the second half.
Leonel Munoz led the Huskies with four shots, two on goal.

Kevin Alvarenga each had a shot on goal.
Kevin Suarez took the tough loss between the pipes, making seven saves in 90 minutes.
Brandon Stoneham, Omar Edwards and Domenico Parrelli each led Adelphi with two shots, both hitting the target. Edwards scored the goal, assisted by Adrian Sundquist.
Christopher Herrera earned the win in goal, also making seven saves in 90 minutes.
HBU had several chances in the match to score, as Escobar's shot early in the match was point-blank to Herrera. The Huskies also had a hard shot on Herrera, which he stopped, then stopped Munoz's rebound.
Adelphi broke the tie in the 89th minute, as Sundquist sent a nice pass between two defenders to Edwards, who snuck the ball in the lower left corner of the net.
HBU will travel to Plano, Texas, to play Central Arkansas on neutral territory on Wed., Oct. 5. First kick is set for a 6 pm start.
