HOUSTON – The HBU men's soccer team won its fourth straight match with a 4-2 victory over visiting Belmont on a cold and very windy Tuesday night at Sorrels Field.
Belmont scored first, on a goal by Edgardo Padilla, assisted by Will Moorad at the 13-minute mark. The Huskies tied the match 15 minutes later on a goal by Kristopher Tyrpak, assisted by Tanner Fyfe.
Leonel Munoz scored four minutes later, in the 32nd minute, assisted by Tyrpak and John McDuffee. McDuffee sent a long pass down the left side and Tyrpak sent a cross pass into the box, which Munoz kicked in. The half ended with the Huskies leading, 2-1.
The Bruins knotted the match at two in the 53rd minute on a goal by Brandon Tarr, assisted by Nico Olsak. HBU keeper Chris Dodd stopped the original shot by Olsak, but Tarr grabbed the rebound and found an open net.
Duke Ogega scored the eventual game winner in the 72nd minute, assisted by Munoz and Andrew Collins on a corner kick. Munoz completed the scoring with an unassisted tally in the 83rd minute. Munoz has now scored six goals in the last four matches.
HBU outshot Belmont, 15-9, and had a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Dodd earned the victory, playing 89:39, making two saves and allowing two goals. Wesley Wray started the match for Belmont and allowed two goals while making three saves in the first half. Juho Illi played the second half and took the loss, allowing two goals while making four saves.
HBU (6-7-1) will conclude the regular season with Atlantic Soccer Conference matches at NJIT on Saturday and Adelphi on Monday.
