Leonel Munoz

HOUSTON – Leonel Munoz scored twice for the Huskies, helping HBU defeat visiting Oral Roberts, 2-1, before a packed house Thursday night at Sorrels Field.

All three goals were scored 10 minutes apart, as Munoz got things going at the 26 minute mark, as he sent a floater past Andrew Techanchuk. The goal was assisted by Mark Gendi. Munoz scored the eventual game winner nine minutes later, in the 35th minute, as he one-timed a pass from Kristopher Tyrpak past Techanchuk. One minute later, Oral Roberts scored its first goal in the match, as Johnny Chavez scored, unassisted.

HBU outshot ORU, 11-5, as Oral Roberts had a slim 4-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Chris Dodd earned the victory, as he made three saves while allowing one goal. Techanchuk took the loss, allowing two goals and making one save.

HBU (3-7-1) will start Atlantic Soccer Conference play with a 1 pm Sunday match against Howard University.
