HBU sophomore outside hitter Mikayla Vivens was named the Barcelona Sporting Goods HBU Classic Tournament MVP, recording double-digit kills in all three of the Huskies’ wins, including a pair of double-doubles. The San Antonio native averaged 4.00 kills and 3.10 digs per set, while registering six aces. In Friday’s season-opening sweep of Prairie View A&M, Vivens recorded 11 kills and 10 digs for her first career double-double, then followed up with 12 kills and seven digs in a sweep of Louisiana Tech that evening. In Saturday’s tournament-clinching, 3-1 victory over UT Rio Grande Valley, she posted career highs of 17 kills and 14 digs. On Monday, she was selected as the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her performance.
