Senior lefthander Matthew McCollough hurled his first career shutout and sixth career complete game in the Huskies’ series-clinching, 1-0 victory over Incarnate Word in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader. The Katy, Texas, native held the Cardinals scoreless on four hits with six strikeouts and no walks, allowing only two runners to reach second and one to reach third. McCollough remained perfect in conference play with a 6-0 record, 1.63 ERA, 54 strikeouts (averaging 9.0 per start) and four walks. He picked up his 20th career win, moving into fifth all-time at HBU and also moved up to fifth at HBU in career strikeouts with 218. He was also selected as the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance.
