Junior first baseman Jake Pulcheon was the offensive catalyst to HBU’s three-game sweep of Sam Houston State, hitting .600 with a 1.000 slugging percentage, .667 on-base percentage, a double, a home run, six RBIs and two runs. In Friday’s 2-1, 14-inning victory, the Menifee, California, native went 2-for-3 and drove in the game-tying single in the bottom of the ninth. In Saturday’s 9-1 win, Pulcheon went 2-for-3 with a double, was hit by a pitch twice, drove in a pair and scored a run. In Sunday’s 9-8 victory, he went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and scored a run. Pulcheon’s three-run homer in the fifth cut the Huskies’ deficit to one. His two-out single in the seventh set up Tyler Depreta-Johnson for a clutch RBI single to once again get HBU back to within one, before eventually winning on Blake Thomas's second walk-off single of the series. Pulcheon was also voted the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week by the league's sports information directors for his performance.
