Senior midfielder Allison Abendschein earned Most Valuable Player honors as she led the women's soccer team to its second Southland Conference Tournament championship in three years with a 1-0 victory over Stephen F. Austin Sunday in Corpus Christi. The Magnolia, Texas, native tallied the lone goal in the fourth minute of the final. She also scored the game-winner in the 77th minute of the 2-1 opening round win over Southeastern Louisiana Wednesday. The Huskies earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which begins Nov. 11.
