Tay Nance qualified for the NCAA West Regionals in Lawrence, Kansas, becoming the first freshman field event competitor in school history to qualify. The Cleveland, Texas, native used a tremendous performance in the Southland Conference Championships to catapault herself into qualification, where she broke her own school record three times, eventually leaping to 12.44m/40-9.75, which originally ranked her 40th nationally. She enters Saturday's competition ranked 47th.
