Senior shortstop Louie Payetta led the Huskies to a two games to one conference series victory on the road at McNeese State, hitting .818 (9-for-11) with three doubles, four RBIs, two walks and a sacrifice to post an .846 on-base percentage and 1.091 slugging percentage. In Friday night’s 3-2 victory, he went 3-for-4 and drove in a pair of runs, then went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run in Saturday’s loss. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native closed the series by going 3-for-3 with a double, two walks, one intentionally, two runs and an RBI in Sunday’s 7-5 win. For his efforts, he was named Southland Conference Hitter of the Week. He now has a four-game hitting streak and is hitting .349 for the season with four doubles, 10 RBIs and eight runs.
